In September 2022, Hurricane Ian made landfall near Cayo Costa and devastated the Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte area with catastrophic winds and storm surge. Many Punta Gorda homes sustained significant plumbing damage — broken supply lines from structural shifting, sewer line infiltration from floodwaters, contaminated well systems, and corroded water heaters. Years later, some of this damage is still being discovered. Homeowners who repaired visible hurricane damage may not realize that underground sewer lines, slab-embedded pipes, or water heaters exposed to floodwater also need attention. We provide post-storm plumbing assessments to identify these hidden issues.

Punta Gorda’s older housing stock — particularly homes built in the 1960s through 1980s — often has cast iron drain pipes. Cast iron was durable in its day, but after 40 to 60 years in Florida’s humid, acidic soil conditions, these pipes deteriorate from the inside out. Symptoms include slow drains, sewer odor, and sewage backups. We use sewer camera inspections to evaluate the condition of cast iron drain lines and offer both traditional and trenchless replacement options.

Waterfront properties throughout Punta Gorda Isles, Burnt Store, and along the Peace River face unique plumbing demands. Saltwater exposure, high water tables, and the potential for storm surge flooding require plumbing systems built to withstand a harsh marine environment. We install corrosion-resistant fixtures, marine-grade hose bibs, and elevated water heaters for waterfront properties where flooding is a risk.

The Port Charlotte and Deep Creek areas south of Punta Gorda proper are largely unincorporated Charlotte County, with a mix of housing ages and plumbing conditions. Many homes here are on Charlotte County Utilities water and sewer, but some areas still use private wells and septic systems. We service both.
